Bawumia pays medical bills of Akyem Batabi disaster victims; presents GH¢200K

Government has presented a cash of GH¢200,000 to be distributed to survivors and bereaved families of the Akyem Batabi disaster.
Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia was at the disaster scene on Sunday, October 25 to assess work done by the rescue team and sympathise with bereaved families.
The grieving families and survivors were yet to come over the shock.
Vice President Bawumia assured them of government’s support.
He was on his tour of the Eastern Region.
The Director General of the National Disaster and Management Organisation (NADMO), Nana Agyeman Prempeh, briefed the Vice President and his entourage on work done.
On behalf of government, the Vice President presented the cash amount to the families and survivors and pledged government’s commitment to foot all hospital bills of survivors.
The cash is to temporarily support the beneficiaries in their trying times.
Chief of Batabi Barima Oppong Kyekyeku was overwhelmed by the gesture towards the beneciaries.
The death toll since Tuesday was 22 whiles eight survived.
